Computer technology has really been swift.15 years ago computers were slow.At least mine was.It was only good for printing out information,doing simple spreadsheets,running a bbs In the early 1990's viruse's got really bad because of the windows operating systems had security problems.I used Msdos back then because i didnt like the version of windows back then.I didnt get a virus untill i forgot to renew my virus software.Oh boy!What a mess.I had the virus in memory.I booted the computer up and the virus would show up.I would run a virus scanner on the hard drive and the software would get trashed by the virus.I got a 3-1/2 inch disk,put the virus scanner on it with the write tab fixed to where the virus couldnt write to the disk.Then i ran the virus scanner again,success.Dont be like me,be smart and keep a anti-virus/anti-spyware up to date and scan your system constantly.

A home desktop computer that is safe and secure couldn't be more important today. Some people today would rather steal from the rest of us instead of working.Everyday i get emails with Links that if i was to follow them my computer would get compromised.My bank account get robbed and lose everything i have worked for.The information below will help you understand you must have protection.

Install an anti-virus/anti-spyware program.If you don't have much money you can find freeware on the internet that works very well. Should your computer get infected with a virus, worm, or piece of spyware, you can stop the attacks by having a firewall,antivirus/spyware scanner software scanning your hard drive and memory.

Create a barrier between your computer and the internet world. Anti-virus/anti-spyware programs are only effective if you have it running and kept up to date.A firewall is built into most antivirus software.You pay a little more for the software but its nice to have that peace of mind knowing hackers cant get through and rob you.

Don't click on website links in spam messages. In an effort to obtain your personal information, some spammers will send email that asks you to click on a link. The email messages are often disguised as important messages from well-known online establishments, and they often try to scare their readers into clicking links with threats of closing an account of some sort.I get emails all the time about paypal that are phoney's.Click here to fix your account they say.They will fix your account all right.All they want is your credit card mumber.But other times the links attempt to download spyware onto a computer.Make sure you keep your operating system up to date.Windows has an on-going problem with security.They fix one place and get attacked somewhere else.If your up to date you have a lot better chance.

Your best protection against computer crimes is knowledge. You sure can make some evil people very unhappy by acting on this advice.Dont be a victim.
